ilovebrokenhill.com , was first published on 8 December 2011 by Jane Deany. My blog is all about the famous outback Australian National Heritage Listed City named Broken Hill, located in the state of New South Wales. I first visited #BrokenHill in 2002 and have returned many times since then. ilovebrokenhill.com will help you discover what's great about this historic mining city, where in the mid 1880's the line of lode, a rich ore body of silver, lead and zinc was found. You will find stories about anything related to Broken Hill.

Art, Art, Art ... Broken Hill is full of it

I know I go on about Broken Hill and art but this outback Australian City really is into art.

Tonight there are not one but two art events on, and I'm stuck in Melbourne. Mind you I did go to an art prize awards event in Melbourne last night - Clifton Art Prize, to see my friend Robert Lee Davis win the Melbourne division People's Choice Award, and I saw the Archibald Prize 2013 exhibition at Morning Peninsula Regional Gallery last weekend so I'm not going without.

Nonetheless it still would be great to be in Broken Hill right now and be surrounded by all the art and culture.

I've already written about the Broken Hill Outback Open Art Prize and exhibition opening tonight at the Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery in several posts, however, it's not the only art event on in the city tonight. There is another art exhibition opening tonight at another venue. Maybe a bit late notice, but for the record ...

Local Broken Hill artist and art teacher Amanda Johnson is having an exhibition of her art student's work at the Girl Guides' Hall, corner of Oxide and Wolfram Streets from 6pm tonight.  The exhibition will continue between 10am - 4pm daily until next Friday 12 July.

Enjoy the exhibitions. As always, feel free to tell us what you thought of the exhibitions.

Cheers, Jane D
