I first visited #BrokenHill in 2002 and have returned many times since then. ilovebrokenhill.com will help you discover what's great about this historic mining city, where in the mid 1880's the line of lode, a rich ore body of silver, lead and zinc was found. You will find stories about anything related to Broken Hill.

IWD (8 March) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, IWD is a national holiday.  IWD was first officially celebrated in 1911.

There are many events on to celebrate this annual special day and there's still time to do something if you haven't already recognised the day today (yet).

I'm off to one of the many special IWD events in the city (Melbourne) tonight, Wisdom of the Ages.

Earlier today in Broken Hill, local business woman Cheryl Cuy spoke at the City's IWD breakfast celebration. See link to the ABC's website for more about what Cheryl had to say at this event.

Enjoy the day. Cheers, Jane D
