Takeover Target the once top rated turf sprinter (when - 2006, where - the world), will be a special guest at the upcoming St Patrick's races this weekend, when she will run and exhibition race.

It will be a fantastic opportunity for racing enthusiasts to see a world class race horse up close in the wonderful intimate country race track environment on this coming Saturday.

The retired sprinter, known as Archie, will be brought to Broken Hill by Coffs Harbour trainer Joe Janiak, who will bring two other mounts - Bondit who will run in the "Outback Cup" and Wise and Wary who will run in the Class 3, 1200 metre race.

Janiak bought Takeover Target (foaled in 1999) in 2003 for a reputed bargain. The horse went on to win 21 out of 41 races including a victory at Royal Ascot, where he won the Group 2 King's Stand Stakes.

In the 'Barrier Daily Truth' today, St Patrick's Chief Racing Steward Mr Trevor Odgers, said that the races have attracted trainers from 'everywhere, including Adelaide, Coffs Harbour, Dubbo, Port Augusta, Victoria, Cobar, Menindee, Silverton, Swan Hill and a number of locals'.

Things are really hotting up now as the excitement builds for the big day this coming Saturday.

Don't miss it (especially if you've never been before), it's a lot of fun.

Cheers, Jane D
