International Women's Day today Broken Hill, Melbourne & worldwide

In case you haven't heard it is International Women's Day (IWD) today, around the world (obviously). So it doesn't matter where you are today, be it Broken Hill, Melbourne, Alice Springs, Hobart, Broome, Dubai, Moscow, Tokyo, Beijing, Paris, Rome, Athens, San Francisco, Mumbai, Kiev, Harare ... anywhere , this is a worldwide unifying event that I hope many of you can enjoy and take part in.

Here is the link to the dedicated website - www.internationalwomensday.com .

IWD (8 March) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, IWD is a national holiday.  IWD was first officially celebrated in 1911.

There are many events on to celebrate this annual special day and there's still time to do something if you haven't already recognised the day today (yet).

I'm off to one of the many special IWD events in the city (Melbourne) tonight, Wisdom of the Ages.

Earlier today in Broken Hill, local business woman Cheryl Cuy spoke at the City's IWD breakfast celebration. See link to the ABC's website for more about what Cheryl had to say at this event.

Enjoy the day. Cheers, Jane D
