Everyone is invited to the Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery tonight to enjoy yet another opening night. This time it is a combined exhibition showcasing the work of local Silverton artist Albert Woodroffe, local Broken Hill artist Peter McGlinchey, together with the work of 22 Australian artists in the 1st Tamworth Textile Triennial ‘Sensorial Loop’ exhibition.
I first met Albert on my second trip to Broken Hill on a stinking hot 42 degree Celsius day at his Broken Hill Horizon Gallery on New Year’s Eve in 2005 (he had two galleries back then, the Broken Hill gallery is now closed). I headed out to Silverton the next day and visited his Silverton Horizon Gallery (see pictured) and ended up buying a lovely Peter McGlinchey oil. I was lucky to chance a meeting with Peter earlier this year at another opening at the Regional Art Gallery at an exhibition of some of the controversial Bill Henson’s photographic works.

I can’t make opening night but I’m hoping to see this exhibition at some point. I’m sure it will be well worth the trip.
Enjoy …
